Creating Your Writing Life
This is an all-day workshop designed for those who want to make consistent and sustainable room in their lives for writing. It’s about nurturing that creative space within you, and feeding it with production and pages. Let us help you uncover the resources within to get yourself writing regularly and with purpose.

Moderator: Heather Newton

This workshop is for you if you are:

  • Just starting a writing project and need to develop a plan of attack
  • Stuck in the middle of a story or novel and can’t seem to finish
  • Finding it hard to make time in your life for writing
  • Wanting to make contact with fellow writers for support and advice.

We will focus on four topics:

  • Establishing Routines and Rituals
  • Enhancing Space and Environment
  • Honing Your Writing Process
  • Building a Writing Community
  •  

A Wine and Cheese Social Hour will follow from 4:00 to 5:00 for participants interested in connecting with other writers to form or join critique groups.

Where: Sandburg Hall, Universalist Unitarian Church, 1 Edwin Place, Asheville, NC, 28801 (parking on-site)
Cost: $55 per person
Lunch Break: 1-2pm (brown-bagging recommended)


About Flatiron Writers:
Flatiron Writers was formed in Asheville in 1993 by a group of writers committed to supporting one another and critiquing each other’s work. Today, Flatiron Writers has broadened its scope and seeks to serve as a resource to the broader Asheville writing community.

Current members: **Marc Archambault, *Geneve Bacon, *A.K Benninghofen, Toby Heaton, *Marjorie Klein, *Maggie Marshall, and ***Heather Newton. Among them, they have published 3 novels, 1 short story collection, a heap of short stories, 4 produced screenplays/teleplays, and countless newspaper & magazine articles. This is the first in a series of Flatiron/papershine-sponsored writer-centric workshops.

Cancellation and Refund Policy:

We reserve the right to cancel the seminar if not enough participants enroll. If we cancel, you will receive a full refund. If you cancel before February 4, 2012, we will refund your payment less any administrative fee charged by PayPal. If you cancel after February 4, 2012, you will not receive a refund but will receive credit and priority enrollment for future seminars sponsored by the Flatiron Writers.

Snow date: If inclement weather forces us to cancel the seminar on February 11th, we will reschedule for Saturday, February 18, 2012 at the same time and place. If you are not able to attend the snow date, you will not receive a refund but will receive credit and priority enrollment for future seminars sponsored by the Flatiron Writers.
